Wills-Kate to shift into Diana’s former house

The newly married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will soon be shifting to their ‘starter home’ at Kensington Palace, where Prince William and Prince Harry once lived with their late mother, Princess Diana.

The royal couple has chosen to embark on married life in a ‘modest’ apartment in the historic royal residence, which was provided as a home to the Princess of Wales following her divorce from Prince Charles.

Although the home boasts one of the most exclusive postcodes in the country, it is by all accounts a fraction of the size of the five-bedroom, five-reception room suite already occupied by their new neighbours, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent, reports the Daily Mail.

It is reported that when the couple got the builders in to add a few basic mod-cons, they discovered that the apartment in the 17th century palace was riddled with asbestos.

In fact, the wiring was so ancient that the house was considered too dangerous to inhabit. The couple has not tampered with permanent fixtures like the kitchen.

It has been confirmed that the couple will continue to use their rented farmhouse on the island of Anglesey, as their main home but will stay at Kensington Palace when in London.
