Viagra may cause hearing loss: Study
Researchers have found a link between hearing loss and the use of the erectile dysfunction drug Viagra.
Gerald McGwin, a professor of epidemiology at the School of Public Health in the University of Alabama at Birmingham claims use of Viagra can result in long-term hearing loss. Also, use of other phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors (PDE-5i) drugs such as Cialis and Levitra can be harmful for the ear, but results on those drugs are inconclusive.

Chomsky lectures via video link
Bir Zeit, West Bank: Renowned Jewish- American scholar and activist Noam Chomsky, who was barred from the West Bank by Israel earlier this week, on Wednesday delivered a lecture to Palestinian students by video link from Jordan.
Around 100 students packed into a room at Bir Zeit University near the West Bank city of Ramallah to watch the lecture, delivered by live-link from the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Mr Chomsky had been due to give the lecture in person on Monday, but was stopped from entering the West Bank at the Israeli-controlled crossing from Jordan.
After hours of questioning by border officials, Mr Chomsky’s passport was stamped with “Denied Entry”. —AFP

US orders ex-Nazi’s deportation
Washington: A US judge has ordered the deportation of former Nazi concentration camp guard Anton Geiser to Austria.
Mr Geiser, 85, immigrated from Austria to the United States in 1956 and became a naturalised US citizen six years later, according to a statement from the justice department.
“As a Nazi concentration camp guard during World War II, Anton Geiser must be held to account for his role in the persecution of countless men, women and children,” assistant attorney general Breuer said in a statement on Tuesday announcing the removal decision by US immigration judge Charles Honeyman in Philadelphia.

MP quizzed for marrying 13-yr-old girl
Abuja, Nigeria: A Nigerian senator, under fire for marrying a 13-year-old Egyptian girl, was on Tuesday quizzed by investigators, an official statement said. Investigators of the National Agency for Prohibition of Traffic in Persons and Other Related Matters questioned Ahmed Sani Yerima for two hours over the marriage, the agency said. “The senator stated he had not contravened any aspect of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He confirmed that the marriage (was) held as reported and was officiated by the chief Imam of Abuja National Mosque,” the statement said. —AFP
