US man charged with $140 fine for paying medical bill in pennies
An American man has been issued a citation on charges of disorderly conduct for paying a disputed medical bill of 25 dollars in 2,500 pennies.
Jason West, 38, has been punished with a fine of as much as 140 dollars or 14,000 pennies, reports the Daily Express.
West reportedly asked the hospital staff if they accepted cash and then dumped 2,500 pennies on the counter and demanded them to count the money.
Assistant Vernal police chief Keith Campbell revealed that the incident upset staff because pennies were strewn about the counter and floor, and West's action served ‘no legitimate purpose’.
