UK decision on Hanif
A British court on Monday announced that it will decide by March-end the extradition case of Mohammed Hanif Umerji Patel also known as “Tiger Hanif”, wanted in India in connection with the 1993 bomb blast in Surat.
Westminster magistrate court district Judge Nicholas Evans told both the prosecution and the defence lawyers to submit their written submission regarding further evidence on March 15 and he would deliver the judgement by the end of the same month. 51-year-old Hanif is wanted by the Indian authorities for his role in the Surat terror bombings in which an eight-year-old schoolgirl was killed and 12 others injured. Hanif and three of his accomplices are accused of hurling a Russian-made grenade into a crowded market in Surat in January 1993.
