Tony Blair 'is godfather to Rupert Murdoch's daughter'
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is godfather to one of Rupert Murdoch's daughters, according to the mogul's wife Wendi.
In fact, Blair and Murdoch are on such friendly terms that the former British PM attended the baptism ceremony of the media tycoon's two youngest daughters on banks of Jordan river in March last year, 'The Daily Telegraph' quoted Wendi as saying in an interview with the 'Vogue' magazine.
At the time of the baptism, Australian actors Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman were named as godparents to Grace, nine, and Chloe, eight.
But now it has emerged that Blair is also a godfather to Grace, as is Murdoch's eldest son Lachlan.
The ceremony, hosted by Queen Rania of Jordan, took place at the spot where Jesus is said to have been baptised. While Wendi does not comment on the former Labour PM directly, the article states that Kidman, Jackman and Blair are godparents, the newspaper said.
Though Blair's spokesman has refused to comment, but a source from Murdoch-owned News Corporation confirmed that he was godfather to Grace, according to the newspaper.
The revelation will prove controversial for Blair, given the phone-hacking scandal surrounding News International. The full interview is in the October issue of Vogue, out on Thursday.
