Three babies die in Romania in hospital explosion
Officials say an explosion at a maternity hospital in Romania's capital has killed three babies, while two pregnant women and eight newborn infants sustained burns and other injuries.
Health ministry official Raed Arafat says those injured in the blast on Monday night at the Giulesti maternity hospital are being treated at other Bucharest hospitals.
Spokeswoman Anca Onofrei for emergency situations says the explosion occurred on the second floor of the hospital, and thick smoke spread into the intensive care unit where premature babies were being treated.
It was not immediately clear what caused the blast.
