Taliban hangs Afghanistan police chief’s 8-year-old son
An 8-year-old boy was hanged by suspected members of the Taliban in Afghanistan's Helmand province, after the boy's father-a police commander, refused to comply with militants’ demands.
The boy was kidnapped on Friday in the Greshk district, the Daily Mail reports.
Provincial governor spokesman Daud Ahmadi said that the militants had warned his father to surrender with his police vehicle and weapons, otherwise they would kill his son.
While child executions by the Taliban are not common, children often fall victim to Taliban militants when they carry out attacks.
The Taliban also routinely use youngsters as suicide bombers.
Two months ago, four civilians were killed and 12 others were injured when a 12-year-old suicide bomber blew himself up at a crowded market in eastern Afghanistan.
