Syria veto: Obama 'refused' to be part of Assad assassination plan

Reports have emerged this week claiming Barack Obama refused to be part of a plan to assassinate Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

RT quoted the Debka news agency in Israel saying the American President was not ready to 'loan' American firepower to help the Franco-Saudi mission that relied on air strikes and intense bombardment of Assad's stronghold in Syria.

According to sources, Obama was reluctant to be part of this 'complex' mission and despite repeated requests from former French president Nicolas Sarkozy, the plan to involve US forces never took off.

Sarkozy reportedly spent his last days in office trying to convince Obama to be part of the attack. Debka claims he wanted American forces to 'supplement' strikes on Assad's palace, family and members of the Syrian government.

Debka says the plan clearly involved the execution of Assad's family. Specifics of mission details are not yet known, but RT reveals the spearhead was a 12-hour airstrike on Assad's presidential palace, northeast of Damascus.

Prince Salman of Saudi Arabia and Sarkozy were hoping the strike would be lead by US jets taking off from an American carrier stationed off Syrian coast.

Additionally, Obama was asked to okay attacks on Assad's radar installations, unleash America's cyberwarfare capabilities and provide forces to make sure Syrian government jets never left the ground.
