Student kills teacher over hairstyle tiff in Philippines

A high school student in the Philippines on Friday stabbed his teacher to death after being berated for having long hair in school, a police report said.

Teacher Teodoro Sona, 34, was on the way to school in Manila's suburban Caloocan City when his 15-year-old male student stabbed him several times with a 30-centimetre knife.

Sona died while being rushed to a nearby hospital, the report said.

The suspect, who was detained by the police, allegedly became angry after Sona reprimanded him in class on Thursday for his long hair.
