Russia says will react to Irish diplomat expulsion
Russia will react accordingly after Ireland's "unfriendly" expulsion of a Russian diplomat in a fake passports scandal, a top foreign ministry official said on Wednesday.
"This is an unfounded and unfriendly act, which of course will not go without a corresponding reaction," deputy foreign minister Vladimir Titov told the Interfax news agency.
Ireland expelled a Russian diplomat on Tuesday after an investigation found Moscow had stolen the identities of six of its citizens to use for spies' passports, the Irish foreign ministry said.
Irish police launched the investigation last year following the discovery of a Russian spy ring in the United States, after US authorities alleged that at least one of the spies had travelled to Moscow on an Irish passport.
