Roof collapse kills 13 in NW Pak

Peshawar: Thirteen women were killed and 14 others injured today when the concrete roof of a house collapsed in a mountainous region of northwest Pakistan, police said.

The incident occurred in Jorr village of Buner district in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

About 50 women had gathered on the roof of the multi-storey house to condole the death of a local resident when it caved in, police officials said.

The roof was weak and could not take the weight of the large number of people who were standing on it. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals.
