Rescuers call off search for missing crew
The search for 17 missing crewmen from a South Korean trawler that sank without warning off Antarctica was called off on Tuesday, rescuers said, bringing the death toll from the tragedy to 22.
"Sadly, it is exceedingly unlikely that anyone not picked up on Monday could have survived," Maritime New Zealand rescue coordinator Dave Wilson said, adding the icy southern ocean was "an exceedingly unforgiving environment".
