Putin may meet Obama at G8 in May
Russian Prime Minister and president-elect Vladimir Putin will meet US President Barack Obama if he goes to a G8 summit at Camp David, US, in May, Putin's spokesman said.
The G8 summit will be held May 18-19.
"I assume with much certainty that attending the G8 summit, which will take take in the US, without meeting with the US President would be impossible," Dmitry Peskov told the Dozhd TV channel.
"If Putin does participate in the G8, we will, of course, expect such a meeting to take place," he said.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said Putin will meet Obama shortly after his inauguration May 7.
"Obama called Putin and they had a substantial discussion on key aspects of Russian-American relations and agreed to hold a direct meeting soon after the Russian president's inauguration," Lavrov told the Kommersant FM radio.
The telephone conversation between Obama and Putin took place March 10. Putin was re-elected for a third term as president in the polls held earlier this month.
