Pill to banish painful memories?

Imagine popping a pill to erase painful memories after a break-up or a traumatic mishap.
Your imagination may soon turn into reality, thanks to scientists who claim to have moved a step closer to developing such drug.
An international team, led by the University of Puerto Rico, has discovered a drug that helps numb the pain of bad memories by flooding the mind with feelings of security and safety.
In laboratory tests, the scientists harnessed effects of a natural chemical which works on the brain to reduce fear and anxiety.

North Korea claims it has ‘super drink’
Seoul: North Korea’s propaganda machine, taking time off from threatening war with South Korea, hailed on Friday the development of a “super drink” that can multiply brain cells and stop skin ageing.
The anti-oxidation drink contains 60 kinds of “microelements” extracted from more than 30 species of plants, according to the communist state’s official news agency KCNA.
“It, with effects of both preventive and curative treatment, helps improve mental and retentive faculties by multiplying brain cells,” KCNA said.
The drink can also protect skin from wrinkles and black spots, and prevent common conditions such as heart disease. —AFP

Danish priest suspended for child porn
Copenhagen: Denmark’s Catholic Church says it suspended a priest after learning he had been fined five years ago for possessing child pornography.
The priest was suspended last month but the church didn’t give a reason at the time.
The Politiken newspaper reported on Friday he had confessed to possessing 38 video clips with child pornography and was fined $1,000.
Church spokesman Stig Soerensen confirmed the priest was suspended because the church “recently learned” about the conviction. —AP

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
