Pakistan suicide attack kills eight people
A suicide attack targeting police on Friday killed at least eight people including four policemen in Pakistan's northwestern tribal district along the Afghan border, officials said.
The targets of the attack were tribal police in Khar, the main town of Bajaur tribal district, where Taliban linked to Al-Qaeda are active, officials told.
"Eight people have been killed. Four of them were tribal policemen. It was a suicide attack," Tariq Khan, a senior government official in Khar, the main town of Bajaur tribal district, told.
Khan said the bomber was on foot and detonated his explosive vest when he reached a police checkpost.
Another official, Abdul Haseeb, confirmed the attack and casualties.
