Pak Punjab govt of openly ‘supporting’ and ‘facilitating’ JuD: PPP
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) information secretary — Fauzia Wahab — has criticised the Punjab government for their alleged involvement in facilitating and supporting the banned outfit Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD).
Speaking on a point of order in the National Assembly, she said that the government of Pakistan had banned the JuD after its inclusion in the UN blacklist, but the proscribed outfit was still active in Punjab because of the provincial government’s alleged support.
“The provincial government is not only supporting the banned outfit but also facilitating it,” Fauzia said, adding that the organisation had not only led a procession in Punjab, but had published advertisements as well.
Earlier, a survey found that banned terrorist organisations such as Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT), Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) and Harkat-ul-Islami have been actively involved in flood relief operations in Pakistan.
"We pay the police to carry out our operations in Karachi since we are a banned organisation," said a JuD member, identifying himself as Muhammad.
Interior ministry sources had also expressed their anguish over the Punjab government for not acting against the terrorist organisations involved in relief operations.
