Pak leaders back Taliban: Militant
Islamabad, Nov. 17: Some Pakistani politicians are patronising the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, a militant arrested by the authorities told investigators.
“Mohammad Rafique (an alleged terrorist who was caught by the police following a foiled terror strike at the Crime Investigations Agency Center) made some startling revelations during the course of investigations, claiming that the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is being patronised by some politicians”, said an investigator.
The alleged terrorist revealed that these politicians, some of whom are very important and influential, are compelled to help the TTP either because of the direct threats of elimination to which they are exposed to and are vulnerable because of their links with the tribal areas or the areas close to the tribal areas in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa or they are made to believe by certain means by the TTP that they or their families could suffer, no matter where they are in Pakistan.
The sources privy to the interrogations said that the alleged terrorist, arrested following the foiled attempt at the CIA Center has been cooperating and dishing out information while answering the questions put to him.
“This piece of information that some of the important and influential politicians are practically helping the TTP to carry out terror strikes in the country, whether because of their sympathies or under some sort of duress is quite startling,” the investigator said.
