Pak forces kill 10 militants in offensive
Pakistan forces on Monday killed at least 10 extremists in the bombardment by the fighter jets in various areas of tribal Orakzai Agency, officials said, reports our Pakistan correspondent.
The fighter aircraft pounded the hideouts of extremists in the Orakzai Agency’s areas of Shahdala, Ghandai Mela and Nek Kot, killing at least ten extremists and injuring various others, a security official said. “Also, three hideouts were destroyed in the action,” he added. Meanwhile, the militants on Monday destroyed another girls’ school by detonating explosives in Mohmand Agency. Earlier in June, a girls’ school was razed to rubbles in a bomb blast that also partially damaged a basic health unit in Mohmand.

UAE among 5 nations to have 3D TV
Dubai : The UAE has become one of the first five countries in the world and the first in West Asia and North Africa to launch 3D TV service.
The service has been announced by the country’s leading telecom services provider, Etisalat, for its customers across the UAE, making it the first operator in the region to do so.
A recent report confirmed UAE’s position in the first five countries in the world to launch the 3D TV service for its customers.
The service was launched in France, Belgium and Portugal in May 2010 and in Switzerland earlier in June. —PTI

Taliban kill 18 Afghan cops in attacks
Kabul : Taliban insurgents killed 18 policemen in a series of attacks across Afghanistan in recent days, the interior ministry said on Monday.
Ten policemen were killed in an attack on Sunday on an outpost in Dai Kundi province in central Afghanistan, the ministry said, while six officers were killed in a roadside bomb attack in southern Kandahar on Saturday.
Two others died in an attack in the south. Some 21 militants were killed in the Dai Kundi clash, the ministry said. The Taliban could not be reached for comment. The Taliban insurgency is at its strongest since the hardline Islamist group was overthrown in 2001, and 38 foreign troops have died in Afghanistan in June alone.

Philippines bus crash kills 19 Iranians
Cebu (Philippines) : Twenty people were killed and 26 injured when a bus rented by a group of Iranian medical students plunged into a ravine in the central Philippines.
The accident seems to have happened when the brakes of the bus failed, plummeting it into a 100-foot ravine at Balamban in Cebu province, police senior superintendent Erson Digal said. The Filipino driver and 19 Iranians died and 26 others were injured in the incident, said regional military spokesman Lt. Col. Wilson Feria.
Nine of an estimated 55 passengers are still missing but the military is yet to ascertain the exact count of people on board the bus.
