Pak court sets up three-judge bench to hear plea on Zardari

A Pakistani court on Tuesday formed a three-judge bench to hear a petition challenging the holding of the offices of President and co-chairman of the Pakistan People's Party by Asif Ali Zardari.

Sindh high court Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany constituted the bench to hear the petition filed by an advocate named Rasheed Akhund.

The bench is scheduled to start hearing the case from on Monday.

In his petition, Mr Akhund asked the court to direct Mr Zardari to resign as co-chairman of the ruling PPP as he could not hold two offices under the constitution.

A similar petition has been filed in the Lahore high court by Pakistan Lawyers' forum president A K Dogar, who is also the counsel for Lashker-e-Taiba founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed.
