Osama hiding in Af-Pak belt, says Holbrooke
US special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke said on Saturday that Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden is hiding somewhere along the border of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
“Bin Laden and other Al Qaeda leaders are hiding somewhere along the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Many of their associates have been arrested from there,” Mr Holbrooke told reporters at a joint press conference with Pakistani foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi after formal talks.
“We can’t fix responsibility on anyone (Pakistan or Afghanistan) for not arresting Osama Bin Laden and other Al Qaeda leaders. We have to make joint efforts,” he added.
As the two diplomats were holding talks, US drones attacked militants’ hideouts in Pakistan’s North Waziristan killing at least 13 rebels.
The strike took place in Inzarabad village, 25 km east of Miranshah, the main town in North Waziristan tribal district.
Sources said a drone fired two missiles at a house in Inzarabad in Mir Ali area killing 13 and injuring several others.
