About one-fifth of youngsters in China's Shanghai city are overweight and their numbers are on the rise, say health experts.
According to Shanghai health experts, as much as 19.3 percent of local youngsters in Shanghai are overweight which is a rise of 14.1 percent from two years ago. Obese children have also grown from six percent in 2010 to about 13.2 percent at present, Shanghai Daily reported.
Overweight and obese children should have a regulated diet and exercise more for the sake of their health, says Liu Shengtang, a doctor at Shanghai Hongkong Hospital.
Liu wants local schools to teach students about the importance of diet and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
