Obama omits God in Thanksgiving speech, faces criticism

Barack Obama’s Thanksgiving speech has caused an outrage among the public after he omitted to make a reference to God.
The 44th President of the United States used the festive radio address to express his gratitude to service members, volunteers at soup kitchens and shelters.
“As Americans each of us has a list of things and people to be thankful for,” the Daily Mail quoted Obama as saying.
The President’s own list included “pilgrims, pioneers and patriots”.
“We’re especially grateful for the Americans who defend our country overseas. To all the service members eating Thanksgiving dinner far from your families, the American people are thinking of you today,” he said.
While he gave his speech on the occasion, Obama failed to make any reverence to the superior power as he called it 'a celebration of community'.
The President made 10 personal phone calls on 24th November to members of the armed services, two from each (the Army, Air Force, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, and Navy) deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan to thank them for their service and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving.
Meanwhile Republicans and others took to the Internet to express their anger at the perceived omission.
According to ABC News, critics took to Twitter saying 'so sad!' and 'God help us!' after the president disregarded the almighty.
Pastor Jeff Brown, who is a rural Oklahoma husband, father and Baptist pastor also took to his Twitter page to comment. “To give thanks for luck is to deny God much less omit!” he wrote.
