Obama, Cameron serve burgers at barbecue

US President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron rolled up their sleeves to serve barbecued sausages and burgers to British and American service personnel on Wednesday.
In sharp contrast to the choreographed pomp and ceremony of Tuesday's state visit, the barbecue in the garden of Cameron's 10 Downing Street residence was designed as an informal occasion for the leaders to meet the veterans.
With bunting of Union Jacks and the Stars and Stripes hanging overhead, Obama and Cameron jacketless and taking care not to splatter their white shirts with fat served burgers to uniformed veterans as the sun shone.
Guests reportedly tucked into British sausages, beefburgers, lamb chops, sweetcorn, new potatoes, with tomato, mozzarella and basil salad, and then a dessert of summer berries and ice cream.
The barbecue was organised by Obama's wife Michelle and Cameron's wife Samantha.
Cameron had joked earlier in the week that his seven-year-old daughter Nancy had nicknamed the occasion the ‘Obama-cue’.
On Tuesday night, the Obamas were the guests of honour at a state banquet at Buckingham Palace.
In his toast, the president said he was in Britain to ‘reaffirm the enduring bonds between our nations and reinforce the special relationship.’
Later on Wednesday, Obama was to be granted the rare honour of addressing both houses of the British parliament.
