North Korea locals claim birds are mourning Kim Jong-il
State TV in the country is now transmitting images of what appears to be magpies perched on trees 'almost motionless', with many claiming the birds are mourning their dead, 'Dear Leader', a report in The Telegraph has claimed.
Coal miners in Unsan county, eastern North Pyongyang, claim they 'have never seen such an event' and are convinced this is a sign.
"I have been living here, a coal mine village, for about 50 years, but I have never seen a thing like this," miner Baik Keun-shik was quoted as saying in the Telegraph report.
Villagers have also claimed the magpies refuse to leave even when people approach the flock. Locals add the birds flew towards Pyongyang once the Sun rose.
"It's not just a strange natural phenomenon. It means our 'Dear Leader' was a born great man, so nature as well as all the people around the world cannot forget him, we can feel his existence in our warm heart," said local Ri Yon-souk.
