New California law may require porn stars to wear condoms in sex scenes

Condoms would be soon made compulsory for porn films made in California.

Though it's only in draft stage, a new proposal would require adult entertainers to wear condoms in sex scenes to prevent ‘genital and oral contact with the blood or (any other bodily fluids) of another person,’ reports the New York Daily News.

The legislation is based on a state law requiring that hospitals provide nurses with gear to prevent exposure to blood and fluid-borne illnesses.

Cal/OSHA officials have always said they believe that porn performers fall under that law, but the new rule would make it more specific to porn sets.

The bill would also reiterate some of the basics of safe sex: condoms could not be reused, expired or worn with multiple partners, according to the proposal.

It would also require that performers not share razors and that sex toys must be kept clean.

The proposed rules come in response to a complaint filed two years ago by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and shortly after a California health care clinic for porn stars was shut down.
