Nepal will hold Everest marathon
Nepal will organise a marathon at the Everest base camp to focus global attention on environmental pollution and climate cha-nge in the Himalayas at the end of May. Each participant in the Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon from Everest base camp is expected to carry at least 500 grams of waste to Namche Bazaar (3440 metres), the gateway to the Everest region in Soluk-humbu district. Many foreigners are expected to participate in the eighth edition of the world’s highest marathon on May 29.

China airport shuts for 4 hrs after kite scare
Beijing, May 16: A Chinese airport was closed down for four hours when a person started flying a kite on its runway, disrupting landing and take off operations. Taoxian International Airport in Shenyang, capital of the north-eastern province of Liaoning, resu-med operation on Saturday after officials removed the person flying a kite from the landing zone. Over 10 incoming flights and a number of outgoing flights were delayed. —PTI

‘Musharraf working for comeback’
Islamabad, May 16: Former Pakistan military ruler Pervez Musharraf has practically started efforts to make a possible comeback to power, political sources said, reports our Pakistan correspondent.
“Musharraf has been holding meetings with his supporters in the UAE and the UK recently to finalise his return and to take active part in politics,” a close aide of the former dictator told this newspaper.
The latest meeting, on Sunday, was an unofficial launching of the new party — the All Pakistan Muslim League — to be headed by Mr Musharraf.
