Missing cobra turns up... on Twitter
As keepers at the Bronx Zoo search for a missing Egyptian cobra, a Twitter account claiming to be that of the venomous snake is attracting thousands of followers.
The @BronxZoosCobra account was created on Monday and has racked up more than 37,000 followers in less than 24 hours.
Among the tweets from the missing snake:
"A lot of people are asking how I can tweet with no access to a computer or fingers. Ever heard of an iPhone? Duh."
"Leaving Wall Street. These guys make my skin crawl."
"It's getting pretty cold out. I think it's probably time to crash. Oh look, an apartment window someone left open just a crack. Perfect!"
"Donald Trump is thinking about running for president?! Don't worry, I'll handle this. Where is Trump Tower exactly?"
The reptile section of the Bronx Zoo was shut down after the cobra, which is an adolescent female around 20 inches (50 centimeters) long, escaped from its enclosure on Friday.
Bronx Zoo director Jim Breheny said finding the snake may take ‘days or even weeks’ but reassured New Yorkers that it is hiding somewhere within the Reptile House.
