Malaysia police arrest two men in Anwar video case

Malaysian Police on Friday arrested two men in connection of secretly filmed a sensational 20-minute video of a man, reportedly resembling prominent Opposition politician Anwar Ibrahim, having sex with a foreign prostitute.

The two men, a former chief minister of Malacca state Abdul Rahim Tamby and a businessman Shazryl Eskay Abdullah were later released on police bail, online reports said.

A senior police official said that several items that could be used as evidence were also seized from the two.

"One of them even told us where the sex video was filmed and we have sent a forensics team together with investigators to the scene," the official added.

Street corners, coffee shops and political corridors have been abuzz the last few days after reports that the man in the 20-minute video resembled embattled opposition chief Anwar Ibrahim, who is also embroiled in a sodomy trial.

Anwar, 62, and father of six children, has denied that he was the man in the video and has filed a police complaint against three men, including Abdul Rahim, Shazryl and a third person after they showed the film to a select group of journalists here.

Inspector-general of police Ismail Omar said police were also trying to determine the identity of the people seen in the video as well the person who recorded it.

"There are a few things we are looking into right now," he said. The video was reportedly filmed in a hotel here recently. On Thursday, Abdul Rahim and Shazryl turned over the original sex video and an Omega wristwatch to the police.

According to Abdul Rahim the watch belonged to Anwar.

The third individual who formed the trio responsible in exposing the sex video has been identified as Shuib Lazim

"We are working on it as thoroughly and quickly as possible," the police official said.
