Malaysia to make visas easier for Indians

Malaysian immigration authorities have been instructed to facilitate the issuance of visas to make it easier for Indians to visit Malaysia, Prime Minister, Mr Najib Razak, said on Thursday.

Speaking at the Malaysia-India Business Seminar here, Mr Najib said that the department would set up more offices across India so that Indian visitors to Malaysia could apply for visas easily, Xinhua reported.

According to Mr Najib, there are over 100 flights between Malaysia and India every week.

While Malaysia Airlines, the country's national carrier, operates 30 weekly flights between the two countries, Malaysia's budget airlines Air Asia has 63 weekly flights between Malaysia and India.

Another 21 weekly flights are operated by three Indian airlines.

India was among the top 10 tourist sources for Malaysia where tourist arrivals from the country amounted to about 590,000 last year.
