Large pre-dawn blast at Indonesian volcano
Indonesia's deadly volcano is erupting again - spitting out towering clouds of hot gas and debris in a powerful early morning explosion.
There were not reports of new casualties. Surono, a state volcanologist, said Mount Merapi is shooting hot gas clouds and soft volcano debris more than a thousand feet (4,00 metres) into the air.
The pre-dawn eruption followed a much more powerful blast on Thursday night that chased people from villages and emergency shelters along its scorched slopes.
After more than a week of continual eruptions, and warnings that pressure inside Mount Merapi may still be building, the province warned it was running out of money to help more than 70,000 people forced from their homes.
