Kuwait City, Feb. 6: Kuwait’s interior minister, Sheikh Jaber, stepped down over the death of an activist in a police station, amid rising tensions that include calls for the first major Gulf street protests on Tuesday. The group, Fifth Fence, said it is using Twitter, to gather its supporters.

The Opposition has escalated pressure on Kuwait’s leadership in recent months over claims of corruption and attempts to roll back political freedoms.
