Hearing of 17 Indians postponed
Dubai, Dec. 17: The Sharjah Appeals Court has postponed the hearing of an appeal by 17 Indians against their death sentence for killing a Pakistani man till December 30, the lawyer handling the case for the Indians has said.
“The prosecution presented the CD containing the reconstruction of the scene of the crime that we had asked for but the police officials who were supposed to be present in the court did not show up,” Ms Bindu Suresh Chettur said.
This annoyed the judge who issued a warning to police officials to remain present in court on December 30.
A dispute between an Indian and Pakistani group had led to the death of a Pakistani national in January 2009. Seventeen Indians were arrested and sentenced to death.
