Gilani gets more funds than Prez
Prime Minister Yousaf Gilani has got more budget for his office than Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari in the newly presented Budget for the fiscal year 2010-11.
The Budget for the Prime Minister’s secretariat and the Presidency has been jacked up by Rs 56.65 million and Rs 36.38 million respectively in the new budgetary proposals.
The national Budget was presented on Saturday. The total Budget deficit has been estimated at Rs 685 billion that will be met through internal and external resources.
The increase in the Budget for the Prime Minister’s secretariat as compared to the Presidency reflects the evolving political trend that the focus is now on the Prime Minister secretariat in line with the requirements of parliamentary democracy.
For the President’s House, the total allocation of Rs 427.254 million showed an increase of Rs 38.82 million. For the Prime Minister’s secretariat, the increase from the allocated amount of Rs 428.117 million for fiscal year 2009-10 to Rs 484.831 million for the coming fiscal year, 2010-11, translated to Rs 56.65 million.
