Firstborn daughter of Wills-Kat to be next Queen?
Queen Elizabeth II is personally in favour of the plan that repeal ancient laws and allows the firstborn daughter of Prince William and Kate to accede to the throne, according to reports.
The 85-year-old monarch has expressed her support towards the bid, launched by Prime Minister David Cameron, calling for a change in ancient laws, the Telegraph reported.
According to Cameron, the proposal is ‘an anomaly’ that goes against ‘gender equality’.
The Queen’s support will fortify the 45-year-old’s hand in seeking to change the law and will let firstborn daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge be the next heir to the throne.
According to royal sources, the Queen has ‘let it be known’ that she is fully behind the moves to repeal the primogeniture law, which puts male heirs ahead of their older sisters in the line of succession, according to royal sources.
The PM’s plans state that succession to the throne would be determined simply by the order of birth, so if Prince William and his wife Kate have a first child who is a girl, she would take precedence over any of her brothers.
