Fire-fighting helicopter ditches in Hong Kong reservoir
A government helicopter picking up water for a fire-fighting exercise ditched in a Hong Kong mountain-top reservoir Monday, the city's government said.
The Super Puma helicopter made a "controlled emergency landing" in Shing Mun Reservoir, in the mountains above Kowloon peninsula, after one of its engines failed, the government information service (GIS) said, citing the police.
"All three crew members managed to swim ashore," the GIS report said, adding that they were in good condition but had been sent to hospital for a check-up.
Broadcaster RTHK reported an inflatable device kept the helicopter afloat as the crew clambered to safety.
