Fans do ‘cricketgiri’ in London to support Anna Hazare’s campaign

A group of Indian cricket supporters gathered outside London’s the Oval stadium on Sunday to extend their support to veteran social activist Anna Hazare’s campaign against corruption.

Hazare is on an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi to press his demand for the ‘Jan Lokpal Bill’.

The supporters, who were seen holding banners reading ‘honest India, strongest India’, said that corruption is breeding in India since it got independence, and insisted that the Jan Lokpal Bill is the only tool by which corruption could be curbed.

They also said that their ‘cricketgiri’ is similar to Hazare’s Gandhigiri.

"Basically we have gathered here to support Anna Hazare’s fight against corruption. Corruption is rising in India for the last 64 years and the government and lawmakers are not taking any step to curb it," said Rahul Verma, a supporter of Hazare.

"Anna Hazare has raised his voice against corruption and we are with him. We want that corruption should end soon and we feel that Jan Lokpal Bill will be helpful in ending corruption, so this Bill should soon be passed in the Parliament," he added.

The Oval stadium is currently hosting the fourth and final Test match between India and England.
