Egypt V-P survives bid on life
Washington, Feb. 5: A failed assassination bid against the Egyptian Vice-President, Mr Omar Suleiman, has left two of his bodyguards dead, according to a media report.
The incident was reported by Fox News which said, “Such an attempt on the life of Omar Suleiman, would mark an alarming turn in the uprising against the government of the President, Mr Hosni Mubarak, who only recently named Mr Suleiman, as the VP in an effort to quell the unrest and possibly line up a successor.”
The White House press secretary, Mr Robert Gibbs, however, refused to comment on the issue.“I am not going to... get into that question,” Mr Gibbs was quoted as saying.
The reported attack on Mr Suleiman, comes amid reports of an RPG being fired at the state security headquarters in El-Arish, setting the building on fire.
