Cops arrest Indian for murder in Italy
The Italian police has arrested an Indian man suspected of murdering a fellow Indian whose headless body was found on a beach in a town south of Rome in March.
The suspect, whom the police has only identified as “G” Singh, is the second man arrested in relation to the murder of 46-year-old Hoshiar Singh in Anzio on March 13. The victim is believed to have come from the state of Punjab but little is known about how he came to be in Italy and how he was employed.
Another suspect, Gurjant Singh, was detained on the day of the murder when he was found with blood on his clothing. He maintains his innocence. Major Emanuele Gaeta, head of the Carabinieri paramilitary police in Anzio where the victim’s body was found, told Adnkronos International (AKI) that Singh was caught off guard when the paramilitary police from the coastal town of Anzio arrested him. “He was surprised. He didn’t think he would be linked to the murder or that he would be arrested,” Gaeta said.
