Britain's Channel 4 is all set to telecast a documentary Queen Victoria's Last Love, on the queen's infatuation with a tall, handsome Indian servant who was sent to her as a "gift" and how it nearly derailed her silver jubilee celebrations as royal advisors plotted to have her declared insane.

The documentary to be telecast Wednesday 9 pm shows how the Queen got bewitched by Abdul Karim, a 24-year-old waiter who had begun serving the Queen's table in 1887 after being sent to London from the Indian outpost of her empire.

The queen's infatuation made senior royal advisers plot to have her declared insane just days before her Jubilee unless she halted a controversial plan to knight him, The Sun reported Monday.

Karim told her romantic tales of mysterious India besides churning up delicious curries and his striking good looks added to the heady concoction, according to royal biographer Jane Ridley.

In 1901, when the Queen died, the protection Abdul had enjoyed came to a sudden end. He was later sent back to India.
