Briton loses 20 years of memory after wasp sting

A 50-year-old Briton has lost more than 20 years of his memory after a wasp sting left him brain damaged.

Graham Preston, from Bexleyheath, southeast London, has forgotten key family events including the death of his mother. His last recollections are from 1988. He remembers Margaret Thatcher was prime minister and that the Lockerbie bombing had taken place, The Sun reported.

Preston had an allergic reaction after being stung last year. When he woke from a week-long coma, he thought he was in his 20s.

"When our children came to see him in hospital he said, 'Who's that?'" said his 48-year-old wife Lorraine.

Preston's memory can now hold information for just 10 minutes, and doctors fear he may never fully recover.
