Barack Obama makes history brewing his own beer at the White House
US President Barack Obama will go down in history as the first Commander in Chief to have brewed his own beer at the White House, though the real work is being done by his chefs.
Obama, 50, was encouraged to produce his own beer made with honey by an unnamed chef, who is a home-brewing enthusiast, the Daily Mail reported.
Historians say Obama’s term is the first time beer has been brewed in the White House.
The Obamas have paid for the micro brewing equipment with their own money, and the White House chefs have been hard at work brewing a little at a time with some brewed for St. Patrick’s Day and another batch in June.
According to the Obama Foodorama blog, a small batch of 90-100 bottles was served at the Super Bowl party earlier this year and was all consumed that day.
