40 dead in train tragedy
Kiev, Oct. 12: A bus packed with rush-hour commuters crashed into a train after jumping a red light at a level crossing in central Ukraine on Tuesday, killing 40 people and leaving another 10 wounded, the officials said.
“According to preliminary information, 40 people were killed and 10 wounded,” the Prime Minister, Mr Mykola Azarov, said at the start of a Cabinet meeting.
The President, Mr Viktor Yanukovych, conveyed his condolences to the relatives of victims and said a committee headed by the deputy prime minister, Mr Andriy Kluyev, had been set up to investigate the cause and help out the families of the victims.
