160 arrested as London erupts again
Riots and looting spread to other parts of London on the second night on Sunday after Tottenham in north of the city saw violence erupting over the dea-th of a 29-year-old man in Saturday’s police shooting.
The violence and looting on Sunday night seemed to be preplanned as messages were passed on Twitter and Blackberry Messenger for rioters to congregate and loot. The Met police warned Monday that Twitter users who incite violence could face arrest.
Scotland Yard said Monday it had arrested more than 160 people and 35 police officers were inju-red over two days of escalating violence. Riots and looting spread to Brixton in south London, Waltham-stow in east London, and Enfield in north London.
