14-yr-old's iPhone app 'downloaded 2mn times'

London: An iPhone app video game created by a 14-year-old US boy is taking the world by storm.

More than 2 million iPhone users have downloaded ‘Bubble Ball’, a simple physics-based puzzle game, since its launch on December 29, reports the Daily Mail.

Robert Nay's first iPhone game has shot straight to the top of the Apple Store's free apps chart, overtaking the previous number one ‘Angry Birds’.

While 17 professionals in Finland developed the adventure game ‘Angry Birds’, Nay created ‘Bubble Ball’ in his bedroom in Spanish Fork, Utah, US, with the help from his mother Kari.

Nay was encouraged to try his hand at programming by a friend who noticed how much he liked his iPod touch.

He firstly tried the standard Objective-C programming tools, but found the software a bit difficult, so switched to GameSalad, which he didn't like.

After decided Corona tools from Ansca Mobile best suited him - and let him write and publish for both Aplpe and Android devices - Robert set about writing his game.

While Kari drew some of the levels of the game and submitted the apps to the App Store and Android marketplaces, Nay did all the coding.
