‘I stand by democracy, not Zardari’

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) chief Nawaz Sharif has declared an open war against President Asif Ali Zardari saying he stands by democracy but not the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman.
“We stand by democracy but not Mr Zardari. We don’t stand with him,” Mr Sharif said. Talking to reporters in Murree on Tuesday evening, Mr Sharif said that he and the slain PPP chief Benazir Bhutto dreamt of a prosperous Pakistan and their dreams have been shattered by the present ruling coalition. Mr Sharif said that the present government has been persistently committing mistakes as it has not learnt a lesson from the past.
And, when he was reminded of his own mistake of appointing General Pervez Musharraf as the Army Chief who later ousted him from power, the PML-N chief said, “This is history and we have learnt a lesson from it and paid the price or it.”Mr Nawaz Sharif said that he still feels that the government and its governance style have led it to play a role of anti-democracy regime. He said people cannot wait any longer as two years have gone past but the performance of the government remains zero.

The Pakistani investigators on Wednesday submitted an interim challan (details of case) in a court regarding the killing of two-time Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto nominating three police officers as accused.
The Federal Investigation Agency submitted interim challan of Benazir Bhutto assassination in a special court in Rawalpindi, court officials said.
The FIA has nominated three officers of the Rawalpindi police as accused in a new interim challan of the case which was presented in the special anti-terrorism court No.1.
The challan accused that Superintendent of Police Ashfaq Anwar was assigned security duty at Liaquat Bagh, but he went to the highway with his force without any intimation. “To hide this crime he tampered with the police record,” says the challan.
