Yuvi gets a jolt, ruled unfit for tri-series in Oz
A desperate Yuvraj Singh, out of action since Nove-mber, suffered a big blow Friday as he was all but ruled out of the limited-over series in Australia beginning next month.
After being man of the series in the World Cup, Yuvraj was diagnosed with lung tumour, albeit benign. Now recovering, Yuvraj fe-lt he was fit enough for the tri-series, but medical rep-orts indicated otherwise.
Two of the selectors, Mohinder Amarnath and Raja Venkat, in Bengaluru to watch the “probables” before picking the ODI and T-20 teams on Sunday, were privy to the chest scan report and refused to buy Yuvraj’s argument that he was fit. A disappointed Yuvraj then left abruptly for Chandigarh.

Maya tells MPs, state leaders to monitor booths
Manish Anand
New Delhi, Jan. 13
With an internal asse-ssment suggesting the party could lose over 40 existing Assembly seats, BSP supremo Mayawati has called back all 28 party in-charge of states across India and is asking party MPs to take charge of booths in their respective constituencies in Uttar Pradesh.
“The MPs know their performance will be the basis for getting tickets in future,” a BSP leader said.
Ms Mayawati is marshalling all her resources to avert a poll debacle with her rivals making all-out efforts to unseat her. Sources said the BSP supremo’s assessment is that the BSP could lose 40 seats; therefore she is focusing on winning new seats to compensate for these losses.
