Yeddyurappa sends protest lettter to Prez, PM
Karnataka chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday shot off a protest letter to the President, the Prime Minister and Union home minister against Governor's move to recommend Central rule in the state, saying no attempt should be made to create a constitutional crisis when his government had majority.
"The Governor is trying to destabilise the government by joining hands with opposition parties. I have written letters to the President, Prime Minister and Home Minister,” Yeddyurappa told reporters here.
The chief minister said he had convened a Cabinet meeting on Monday, which would be preceded by a meeting of the legislature party to take stock of the developments and to discuss future course of plans.
"Through some reliable source, I have learnt that the Governor has recommended for President's rule. Despite my government enjoying comfortable majority he has done it,” Yeddyyrappa said, slamming Governor H. R. Bhardwaj's actions.
The chief minister said in his letter to President Pratibha Patil, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram he had appealed that no attempt should be made to create a constitutional crisis when his government had majority.
