Yashwant: Must shed image of ‘soft state’
Former external affairs minister and senior BJP leader Yashwant Sinha on Friday said its “high time” that India shed its image of a “soft state” and bring to book perpetrators of 26/11 Mumbai terror attack. Favouring a US-like surgical strike in Pakistan, Mr Sinha said Indian lives are “as precious as” those of the US citizens and
India cannot be denied the rights that the US has, including that of surgical strikes. However, his party treaded cautiously on the issue claiming the Indian Army Chief has already said that Indian forces are capable of carrying out such operations but it entirely depends on the political will.
Rubbishing arguments that if India indulges in such a surgical strike it would be breach of sovereignty of the neighbouring country, Mr Sinha said US has been striking at terror bases in Pakistan.
