Woman raped at bus stand, cops lodge eve-teasing case
Even as the outrage over the Delhi rape case continues, a 38-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three persons at a roadways bus stand in Mau district late on Tuesday night.
The police, showing total insensitivity, tore up the victim’s complaint and lodged a case of molestation, eve teasing and theft, and that too, after the intervention of the local media.
According to reports, the victim, a resident of a village under Maharajgang police station in Azamgarh, was on a trip to Vindhyachal temple along with her mother-in-law, father-in-law and brother-in-law.
Their neighbours Jhanku Ram, Prem Chand and Tilakdhari also joined them on the trip. All of them boarded a bus to Mau from where they had to board the Chauri Chaura Express for their destination.
At the Mau bus station, Jhanku Ram, Prem Chand and Tilakdhari sent the victim’s family to the railway station to buy tickets. The three men then took the victim to the deserted waiting room when they raped her in turns. The three men then fled the scene. When the three and the victim did not reach the railway station as promised, her brother-in-law returned to the bus stand and found the victim lying unconscious.
