Woman kills husband, buries body in garden
A 50-year-old woman, with the help of her son, allegedly killed her husband of 30 years, buried him near her house and then set up a garden at the burial site to hide her crime.
The incident came to light at Pasumathur, in Gudiyattam, Vellore district, on Tuesday after the brother of the victim lodged a police complaint.
Uma, wife of Victor, 60, a daily wage labourer, stabbed her husband when he tried to attack her with a sickle, accusing her of infidelity.
Their son Chandran helped her finish off Victor, the police said on Wednesday.
“Uma deserted her husband a year back and was living with someone in Bengaluru. Two weeks back, Chandran brought her back to take care of his ageing father.
But, on July 25 night, Victor attacked Uma, accusing her of being unfaithful and tried to chop off her leg so ‘she will not run away’.
Uma immediately called Chandran, staying in another house. But, Victor abused him also. This led to Uma and Chandran stabbing Victor to death,” the police said.
According to Uma’s confession, she and Chandran dug a pit in the backyard and buried Victor. They placed flower pots there.
After Victor’s brother lodged a police complaint, Uma surrendered to the VAO and confessed to the crime.
